Hockey: What business tips could Mario L.(66) give Wayne Gretzky on being a good minority owner?

I can think of some. 1. Demand more media attention locally and stop being so private. 2. Stop coaching. 3. Have a first round draft pick sleep in your basement. Others?

  1. Yes,get the worst team you can assemble, lose for 5 Straight seasons so you can get either the number 1 or number 2 pick in the draft and then flourish. 2003-Fleury #1 2004-Malkin #2 2005-Crosby #1 2006-Staal #2
  2. 1) Threaten to sell the team to the devil incarnate, and THEN get your shiny new building. Phoenix put the cart before the horse. They should have threatened to sell/relocate, and then the city would have bent over, bitten the pillow, and built them their new arena. Amateur night stuff. 2) Make people forget what a complete and total diva you were when you were drafted (when you refused to put the team's sweater on at the draft). 3) Suck over a four-year period to the point where for four consecutive years you get top-2 draft picks (during the years of top-heavy draft classes).
  3. Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky are black/Asian/Latino/Native American?
  4. Mario's three steps to success 1. Cry and complain about it 2. Pout and moan until you get your way 3. Take all the credit
  5. Hey Leafsfan maybe the city forgets "what a Diva" he was because they also want to forget that oh yeah the team was bankrupt and the draft picks may have meant NOTHING. His agent was right in having him wait for a contract to put on the jersey. See once again I'm a Penguins fan who keeps up with the teams history in major situations. Anyway also offer the advice of stop burning through money like it didn't have value. Sure the Pens went through bad times with that firesale but look where they are now.
  6. Mario Lemieux, while being a minority owner, has a much larger stake in the Penguins than Gretzky has in the Coyotes, and has complete control of the team's operations (as Burkle is too busy doing his day job) whereas Gretzky has none (if he had any control - Barnett would still be the Coyotes GM)
